HY2GEN NORGE AS
Founded in 2019 in Sandnes, Stavanger Area, Norway, and 100% owned by Hy2gen AG. Its business purpose is to develop developing projects that produce green hydrogen and oxygen (>80 MW). Hy2gen produces green hydrogen by means of Alkaline electrolysis or polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM).
Norway is an ideal location for establishing the first Hy2gen’s carbon-free hydrogen production facility. The central and local governments are strongly committed to the reduction of greenhouse gases by supporting hydrogen business, carbon-free mobility, and carbon reduction in the industrial sector. Additionally, Norway offers 100% green energy resulting from hydropower at the required level and the production plants are suitable for Scandinavian and North European markets.

forces that are now at work.„

HY2GEN SOLUTIONS FOR:

Mobility
Norway faces a challenge in finding significant emissions reduction opportunities. As its electricity supply is already largely decarbonised, the transportation sector must supply a substantial proportion of emissions cuts.
Hydrogen will have a key role to play in decarbonising transportation. There are practical limits on the use of electricity and biofuel, so fuel cell vehicles are considered the best solution for at least 50% of Norway’s passenger transportation.

MARITIME
Hydrogen provides the most flexible solution to replace fossil-based solutions in the maritime sector, especially as weight and range are important factors.
With one of the world’s most extensive ferry systems and a wealth of clean hydropower, Norway has determined to take a pioneering position in hydrogen-fuelled ferries.

Large scale projects under development, additional projects ramping up:
Green ammonia production in Norway
The Iverson eFuels project is established to develop large scale production of green ammonia in Sauda, Norway. Together with the local community and national authorities we are developing the future of green industry. We are planning development of a large scale, green ammonia plant, deploying industrial use of electrolysis and ammonia technology. Sauda has over a century of industrial history and a unique competence that is needed to build the industry of the future. The global economy needs a clean and reliable source of energy and our product plays a major part in the transformation to new and green energy.
200,000 tons of green ammonia
Iverson eFuels will use renewable resources to produce approximately 200,000 tons of green ammonia annually, which is considered substantial volumes, but a fraction of the expected future marked demand. The plant production in first phase is around 600 tonnes per day, but Iverson will look to expand production capacity even further in further project phases.
A world leading green plant
With a several hundred million EUR capital investment Iverson eFuels AS becomes one of the leading green ammonia plants in world. The project will be among the first large scale megawatt-scale green ammonia plants in the world, contributing to the goal of carbon neutrality in 2050.
PROJECT IN SHORT:
- 600+ million EUR investment – a significant industrial plant development
- The location of the plant is at the industrial site at Sauda, close to the Statnett grid point
- The facility is expected to fill appr. 15-20 ha, corresponding to 20-26 football pitches
- Construction and commissioning from the end of 2024
- Expected to enter full operation by mid 2027
- 50-100 permanent jobs in first phase
- The project is supported with 1,8 million NOK by Agenda Vesst and 10 million NOK by the UllaFørre fund.
